Friday Favorites - From Label Makers to Letterboards

Friday Favorites - From Label Makers to Letterboards

One of my favorite things is sharing my recent finds with friends and hearing all about the things they are loving at the moment. Whether it's our newest outfits, beauty products, or home goods, I could spend an absurd amount of time talking about my favorite things. So, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and start sharing my favorite things each Friday. (I'd also love to hear about things you've snagged up recently or your go to items! Share the love in the comments below.)

Here we go - the inaugural Friday Favorites!

1. DYMO Embossing Label Maker

Ever scroll through Instagram and Pinterest and see perfectly organized bins and totes with what looks like hand made labels? Do you wonder what the heck they used to make them? Well I did. After some sneaky Amazon sleuthing, I cracked the case. It's the DYMO Organizer Xpress Handheld Embossing Label Maker.

This thing is so easy to use and instantly creates vintage looking labels. I love them in black but the tape is also available in color. I'm obsessed and have been labeling away here at home. In fact, my son told me I needed to stop. I told him I needed to label one more thing. Let's just say he wasn't impressed!

2. Fiddle Leaf Fig

I've also had plant envy whenever I see Fiddle Leaf Figs on Pinterest or Instagram. So I took the plunge and bought one on Amazon of all places! It was shipped to my door in great shape and I was really happy with the quality.

Being eager to keep this figgy happy, I've over watered the poor thing. These guys like humidity and sun. My first location I put it in didn't get great sunlight and mix that with too much water and I'm working through a little root rot but I've repotted it for better drainage and put him right in front of a window that gets great filtered sunlight. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

Here is a link to the supplier I bought mine from. It was pretty true to the advertised height and it was pristine when it came (aka before I almost killed it!) For just under $30, you can't go wrong. (These guys can get pretty expensive. I've seen one this size for close to $100.) I haven't been able to find a local nursery or garden center that consistently sells these locally. If you have a good lead, let me know in the comments. Or if you have any tips for keeping figs happy send them my way.

Oh, and here is the woven basket I keep the fig in. I bought the 13" one which has an opening of 9.8". I bought this pot from Target today to repot it in (it has a drainage collector at the bottom so there is no dirt drainage mess.) It's a 10" pot but slipped in perfectly to the basket.

3. Felt Letterboard

I bought this black felt letterboard awhile back and originally had it hanging behind our kitchen door. It was only visible when the door was shut, which is about 50% of the time. I recently moved it to a spot that you can't miss in our kitchen. This one is 16"x20" and a little larger than some of the small ones you see in stores. I found this one on Amazon and its extremely sturdy and looks great.

I love how accessible these boards have become but I'm so picky about the font of the white plastic letters. (Blame it on being a graphic designer!) The reason I love this trend is because it feels nostalgic. I picked this board because it seemed really true to the letterboards of the past when they were actually used to convey messages to consumers.

Tip: I hang mine with 'velcro' Command Strips which makes it easy to change and I can always move it without damage to our walls.

4. Mercantile Made Clove Blend Candle

Okay, okay. Shameless plug here but even if I wasn't making these things myself this candle would still make the list. It's sooooo dreamy. I love a 'warm' candle (one that has some spice to it) but I'm sort of over cinnamon. The clove, patchouli, sandalwood mix hits the spot for the warmth, and almond and vanilla balances that spice out with sweetness. I love it, even if I'm a little bias! Also available in wax melts that are compatible with most household wax warmers.

That's it! Let me know what products you are loving at the moment by commenting below or tag us on Instagram and share using the #MercantileFaveFinds.
